Overview​

The Legislative Calendar helps you:

  • Know when the legislature meets - Session days and hours
  • Find committee hearings - When and where bills are discussed
  • Track floor schedules - When votes may occur
  • Plan your engagement - Prepare testimony and outreach

Accessing the Calendar​

  1. Go to Calendar in the main navigation
  2. View the calendar in day, week, or month format
  3. Filter by event type
  4. Click any event for details

Calendar Event Types​

Session Days​

When the House and Senate are in session:

  • Regular session days
  • Floor debate scheduled
  • Voting may occur

Committee Meetings​

Hearings and work sessions:

  • Bill hearings (public testimony)
  • Work sessions (member discussion)
  • Informational briefings

Deadlines​

Key legislative deadlines:

  • Bill introduction deadlines
  • Committee reporting deadlines
  • Crossover day (bills must pass originating chamber)
  • Turnaround day
  • Session adjournment

Recess Periods​

When the legislature is not meeting:

  • Weekend breaks
  • Holiday recesses
  • Interim periods

Using the Calendar​

View Options​

  • Day view - Detailed schedule for a single day
  • Week view - Overview of the week ahead
  • Month view - Big picture of the session
  • List view - Chronological event list

Filtering Events​

Show only what matters to you:

  • All events
  • Session days only
  • Committee meetings only
  • Your tracked bills' hearings
  • Your tracked committees

Event Details​

Click any event to see:

  • Date, time, and location
  • Event type and description
  • Related bills (for hearings)
  • Committee information
  • Links to more details

Calendar Notifications​

Get reminded about important events:

Hearing Alerts​

  • Notification when bills you track are scheduled for hearing
  • Configurable lead time (1 day, 1 hour, etc.)

Deadline Reminders​

  • Key legislative deadline approaching
  • Session adjournment warnings

Session Updates​

  • Schedule changes
  • Cancellations
  • Added events

Calendar Integration​

Export to Your Calendar​

Add legislative events to your personal calendar:

  1. Find an event in BillBee
  2. Click Add to Calendar
  3. Choose your calendar app (Google, Outlook, Apple)
  4. Event syncs to your calendar

Subscribe to Calendar Feed​

Professional users can subscribe to a live calendar feed:

  1. Go to Calendar > Settings
  2. Click Get Calendar Feed
  3. Copy the iCal URL
  4. Add to your calendar app as a subscription
  5. Events update automatically

Tips for Using the Calendar​

  • Check frequently - Schedules can change, especially for hearings
  • Look ahead - Plan for important hearings in advance
  • Combine with tracking - Track bills to see their hearings on your calendar
  • Set notifications - Don't miss hearings for important bills
  • Note deadlines - Key dates determine legislative strategy
